About me

After 13 years in magazines, I was where I wanted to be: working full time as the editor of a national publication. It was stressful, but it was satisfying. It paid well, I loved my team, and I was proud of the content we were smashing out week after week.

And then I was made redundant. For the fourth time (ouch).

But instead of doing what I had every time before – jumping straight back onto Seek to look for the next 9-to-5 (which always ended up being more like an 8-to-7) – I decided to go freelance, for a whole bunch of reasons, including the fact that I wanted time to do things that truly light me up.

Starting up a blog is something I’d always had cooking away in the back of my mind over the years but I never felt I had the time or, frankly, the energy (I know you feel me on that one), so when being jobless (again) just sort of fell in my lap, I decided to create a little digital corner of the world where I could get frivolous and write about travel, beauty, lifestyle and any other bits and pieces that spark joy.

I have been working mostly freelance for the past couple of years and in that time I’ve done some cool (and random) shit, like, writing three books. You won’t see my name on (most of) them because I ghost wrote/co-authored them (one’s currently on shelves and I can’t tell you what it is but it’s a beauty. The others are on their way…). But I reckon I can officially call myself a published author, even if I don’t get the kudos.

I’ve also created more SEO content than you can poke a stick at. I’ve written magazine and online stories on travel, beauty, celebs, body love, the pandemic (ugh), mental wellness… and the rest.

And THEN I scored a bit of a bloody dream role, TBH, as features, fashion and beauty editor at the gorgeous Hello May wedding mag and website. I’m currently still freelancing a couple of days a week as well, but I’m working on some exciting new stuff for 2022, including a skincare line (like, what?!) and a series of fun writing-related workshops (complete with cheese and wine because why the fuck not?)
